The Society for Anthropological Sciences will be offering a two-hour online Zoom workshop on norms about finding and applying to graduate schools in anthropology:

The workshop will cover various norms and practices to help undergraduates and MA students who are looking for graduate schools, with a focus on (but not limited to) North American anthropology graduate programs.   Topics include:

  • how to find graduate schools that might be right for you
  • how to manage the norms and ‘hidden curriculum’ of the process
  • how and when to communicate to faculty members
  • how to write an exceptionally strong statement of purpose
  • how to think about funding your studies
  • how admissions committees think about GPAs and GREs
